The Christian Community wants to serve religious renewal.
Its main tasks are the execution of the renewed sacraments, and the proclamation of Christianity based on spiritual freedom and the quest for a deeper understanding and knowledge.
At its core are the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Sacra- mental Consultation, Marriage, Priest Ordination and the Last Anointing with the Eucharistic Service 'The Act of Consecration of Man' at the very centre.
Children between the age of 7 to 14 years have a Children's Service of their own.
In the 'Cultus' (Rituals) human destiny is permeated with the forces of the resurrected and present Jesus Christ.
The most profound human powers such as love, trust, compass- ion, interest, truthfulness, are revelations of his being. As human beings in the different areas and challenges of our life, we can open a space to these qualities and their transforming power.
The Christian Community was founded in 1922 and has been active ever since, as an interdenominational Christian Church worldwide, without thereby claiming that she alone would con- nect to the divine.
The priests have freedom in their teaching, are not bound by any given dogmas. The members have freedom in their belief.
There is no special emphasis on specific religious beliefs and truths, yet The Christian Community maintains a form of Christ- ianity embracing the human being, earth and cosmos, without overvaluation of specific teaching contents.
The Christian Community also emphasises a clear separation between church and state.
All financial donations, given by their members and friends, are voluntary contributions according to self-assessment.
Priests and other staff members are mostly working full time, and remuneration is independent of performance, or years of service, educational background etc. It is assessed according to the financial situation of the local congregation and 'region'.
The Christian Community owes its origins to the counsel and help of Rudolf Steiner. The spiritual science (Anthroposophy) which he developed enables an enlivening vitalisation of thin- king and thus a deepened understanding of the Gospel and Christianity.
